    <br><br>Nickel Alexander-Walker (English Nickeil Alexander-Walker; born September 2, 1999 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian professional basketball player who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans team in the National Basketball Association. At the student level, he played for the team at Virginia Polytechnic University. Was selected in the 2019 in the 1st round under the number 17 by the Brooklyn Nets and was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans via the Atlanta Hawks. Plays in the position of an attacking defender, but can also play a point guard.<br>Careersecondary school<br>The Toronto native Alexander for Vaughn High School, St. Louis Christian and Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. In Hamilton Heights, Nickel played with his cousin Shay Gilges-Alexander. They had a close relationship and shared a room at their school coach’s home. Nickel scored 15 points in the first round, but his team still lost 83-86 to Alabama.<br><br>In his second season with Virginia Tech, Alexander-Walker averaged 16.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. His team have won 24 games this season and reached the East Region semi-finals in March Madness, losing to Duke.<br><br>After playing for 2 years for college, Alexander-Walker decided to run for the 2019 NBA Draft.<br>Nba<br>Nickel was selected under the overall 17th pick by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2019 NBA Draft and was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans via the Atlanta Hawks.<br>National team<br>Alexander-Walker played for Canada at the 2016 America’s Under-18 Championship, leading it to silver medals.
