<br><br>Saint Roderick or Saint Rodrigo (lat.Rudericus, isp. San rodrigo, executed March 13, 857, Cordoba) – one of the martyrs of Cordoba. Saint, venerated by the Roman Catholic Church (commemoration day – March 13).<br>Biography<br>According to tradition, Roderick was a Christian priest who lived in the city of Qabra and had two brothers, one of whom was a Muslim. During one of the fights that began between his brothers, Roderick tried to separate them, but the two attacked him and severely beat him. When woke up, he learned that his Muslim brother had announced to all the townspeople that Roderick had renounced Christianity and converted to Islam. After a while, after Roderick stated several times that he did not convert to Islam, his him before the city authorities of from Islam and converting to Christianity. This crime was punishable by death, so Roderick fled the city, but was later identified, captured and taken to Cordoba. Imprisoned, he firmly continued to adhere to the Christian faith, for which on March 13, 853, together with his fellow prisoner, Saint Salomon, he was executed.
